GAME NOTES: Rocky Men’s Soccer Hosts Jamestown for Final Non-Conference Match

BILLINGS, Mont.- The Battlin' Bears host the University of Jamestown as their final non-conference matchup before Cascade Conference play begins next weekend.

Quick Notes

- Since 2002, the Battlin' Bears hold a 16-5-1 record over the University of Jamestown.
- The last time the Jimmies defeated the Battlin' Bears, it was in 2015, where they won 1-0 in overtime. 
- This matchup with the Jimmies is the final matchup for Rocky before conference play begins Friday, September 15th, as they host the University of Providence on Wendy's Field. 

Recap: Rocky Men Draw Twice in Florida

The Battlin' Bears return from their trip to Florida with two ties against top competition. Both matches had opportunities for the Rocky men to secure victories in Florida. The Battlin' Bears held a 2-0 lead over #9 Keiser University entering the final 15 minutes of the match, but two penalty kick opportunities for the Seahawks brought the final to a 2-2 tie. In the second match, Igor Soares gave the Battlin' Bears a 2-1 lead in the 66th minute. Just three minutes later, Webber broke free and tied the game back up. An 82nd minute penalty kick for Webber gave the Warriors a lead, but Igor Soares scored his second goal of the match with an 87th minute penalty kick to secure the 3-3 tie. 

Offensive Notes

- Igor Soares enters Saturday tied for fourth in the Cascade in goals scored (3), while Angel Mange is tied for eighth (2). 
- The Battlin' Bears rank third in the Cascade in shots per game (16.7) and goals scored per game (2.67). 
- After three games, the Battln' Bears have four players with at least one goal scored and five players with multiple shots on goal. 

Defensive Notes

- The Battlin' Bears allowed 20 shots against #9 Keiser, the most in a single game since November 11th, 2013 against Hastings College, yet the Battlin' Bears kept only four of the Seahawks shots on goal with the only goals scored being penalty kicks. 
- Stefan Schenk's three saves versus Webber is a season high, while also being the 10th game in his Rocky career with three or more saves.
