Rocky Ski Concludes Action at Utah Olympic Park

PARK CITY, Utah.- Rocky Ski faced top NCAA competition over the past three days at Olympic Park in Park City, Utah.

Four-time defending NCAA Ski Champions University of Utah played host at Utah Olympic Park, as well as five other top-10 finishing teams in the NCAA a season ago were in the mix in Utah this week.

The competition began Wednesday with two Slalom runs. The Rocky men had five competitors, but none finished in their first run. On the women's side, Reese Harman was the lone Battlin' Bear to finish two runs, taking 31st overall with a time of 2:07.86, including a nine-second improvement on her second run.

Thursday's action was another set of two Slalom runs. Fredrik Straume put together a 50.63-second first run but did not finish on his second run. Straume was the only Battlin' Bear on the men's side to finish on the first run. For the Rocky women, Hilde Iren Sato took 31st overall with a total time of 1:42.19, jumping nine spots on the leaderboard after a 48.12-second finish on her second run. Reese Harman finished 45th with a total time of 2:00.19. Both Slalom runs saw challenging course conditions which provided hardships on each run.

Friday concluded the event with a Giant Slalom competition that featured two runs. On the men's side, William Mjelde finished 37th overall with a total time of 2:19.2. Hilde Iren Sato finished 23rd overall on the women's side with a total time of 2:22.2, including a time of 1:07.04 on her second run, the fifth fastest time in the field.

The Battlin' Bears make a quick turnaround to their first conference meet in Brundage, Idaho in the USCSA Grand Teton/Northwest Meet beginning on Saturday.
