Rocky Women’s Basketball Cruises Past Montana Tech 77-37

BILLINGS, Mont.- All five starters scored in double figures as the Rocky women rode a dominant second-half effort to a lopsided victory at home.

The Battlin' Bears began Saturday clicking on both ends of the court, finishing the first quarter on a 15-2 run, a stretch in which they hit three three-pointers and forced five Tech turnovers as the Rocky women jumped out to a 20-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. Both teams matched each other's offensive output throughout the second quarter, as Rocky jumped out to a 38-23 lead at the halftime break. Gracee Lekvold was the engine for Rocky's offense through the first 20 minutes of play, scoring 15 points on 5-6 shooting from the field and 4-5 shooting from three while grabbing three steals on the defensive end.

The third quarter was as dominant of 10 minutes as the Rocky women have had this season, outscoring the Orediggers 20-4 while turning the ball over just once. The Rocky women extended a lead as large as 45 points as they cruised to their second consecutive victory.

Grace Lekvold led the way with 22 points, six assists, and four steals while shooting 5-8 from three-point range. Ky Oliver recorded her first career double-double, scoring 16 points and adding a career-high 10 rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Brenna Linse scored 14 points, Baylee Young tallied 12 with four three-pointers, and Madeline Heggem scored 10 with eight rebounds to give all five Rocky starters double-figures in the win. The Battlin' Bears hit 15 three-pointers, a season-high and the most in a single game since a 96-27 victory over Walla Walla on November 25th, 2017.

The Orediggers were led by 10 points and five rebounds from Liv Wangerin.

The Rocky women (13-6, 2-5 conf.) have back-to-back road games ahead as they will travel to MSU-Northern and No. 6 ranked Carroll College.
