Rocky Women’s Basketball Rolls Past the Skylights 77-54

HAVRE, Mont.- Gracee Lekvold turned in an all-around performance, Madeline Heggem continued her hot streak, and Morgan Baird scored 15 in her return as Rocky routed the Skylights Thursday evening. 

Brenna Linse got the Rocky women going early, scoring the first six points for the Battlin' Bears. Rocky would finish the first quarter on a 7-2 run to take a six-point lead. 

Scoring was well-balanced for Rocky in the first half, as six different players scored in the first 20 minutes, five of which scored six or more. Morgan Baird got a turnaround jumper to fall in the final possession of the half to give Rocky a three-point lead going into halftime. 

The Rocky women ran away with the contest in the third quarter, outscoring the Skylights 26-10 on a run where they shot 9-14 from the field and hit 4-7 three-point attempts. Ky Oliver knocked in a three-pointer to capitalize a 16-4 run to close out the third quarter, giving the Battlin' Bears a 19-point lead going into the final quarter of play. 

Rocky kept their foot on the gas, holding the Skylights to just 2-10 shooting from the field in the final quarter to secure their third straight victory. 

Gracee Lekvold finished with an impressive stat line of 20 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Madeline Heggem finished with 15 points on a perfect 4-4 shooting from three, six rebounds, three assists, and a career-high five blocks. Morgan Baird scored 15 points in her return to action and Brenna Linse tallied 11 in the winning effort. 

The Rocky women (14-6, 3-5 conf.) hit the road to take on the No. 8 ranked Carroll College in Helena on Saturday afternoon.
