Rocky Volleyball Defeated in Four-Sets by #19 Montana Tech

BUTTE, Mont.—Rocky Volleyball fell in four sets in their final regular season road match in Butte on Saturday afternoon.  

How it Happened
Montana Tech seized momentum early on Saturday afternoon, jumping to a 7-3 lead in the first set. The Battlin' Bears fought their way back, forcing eight Oredigger attack errors in the first set, bringing the match back to a 22-22 draw late. However, the Orediggers secured the set win as Olivia Labeau spiked a kill to secure a 25-23 score. 

After a back-and-forth second set, the Battlin' Bears exploded offensively, rattling off an 11-1 run led by four kills and three service aces from Makenna Bushman, eventually leading to Rocky knotting the match at one apiece. 

Montana Tech's offense caught fire in the third and fourth sets, combining for team hitting percentages of .423 and .375 to hand Rocky a four-set defeat in Butte. 

Makenna Bushman and Bella Bryan each tallied 13 total kills in the loss. Bushman also added four service aces and 15 digs. Blythe Sealey totaled 42 assists and three service aces, while Lindsay Lawrence finished the match with 14 digs. 

Olivia LaBeau finished with a game-high 21 kills and seven blocks for the Orediggers.
 
Up Next
The Battlin' Bears (13-16, 3-10 conference) will wrap up their regular season at home next week, with matches against Carroll College on Thursday evening and Montana Western on Saturday evening.
