Straume and Kvinlog Earn Individual Victories at USCSA Grand Teton/Rocky Meet

KEYSTONE, Colo.- Synne Kvinlog and Fredrik Straume earned individual victories at the USCSA conference meet in Keystone over the weekend. 

Saturday featured two giant slalom runs on the men's and women's sides. Fredrik Straume highlighted the day on the men's side with a first-place finish, putting together the two fastest times of the day for a total time of 1:24.57. The Battlin' Bears swept the top four spots individually, with William Mjelde finishing in second place (1:25.23), Maj Vorsic finishing in third place (1:25.66), and Zachary Bion finishing in fourth place (1:25.79). Erik Berglund finished sixth (1:27.04), Ian McCormick finished eighth (1:27.19), and Felix Besser finished ninth (1:27.90) to give Rocky seven of the top-10 placers on Saturday.

The Rocky women placed four in the top six in Saturday's giant slalom competition. Synne Kvinlog led the charge with a second-place finish with a total time of 1:27.45. Kvinlog also had the fastest run of the day at 43.31 seconds on her first run. Hilde Iren Sato finished third (1:27.84), Bergitte Varne finished fourth (1:28.33), and Sofia Brustia finished sixth overall (1:30.18). 

Sunday's action featured two runs of slalom competition on the men's and women's side. Synne Kvinlog led a charge of four Battlin' Bears in the top four, earning an individual victory with a total time of 1:07.30. Hilde Iren Sato finished second and had the fastest run of the day at 32.92. Bergitte Varne (1:08.79) and Sofia Brustia (1:09.9) rounded out a dominant showing on Sunday. 

On the men's side, Rocky Ski grabbed places two through six on Sunday. Felix Besser was the top finisher for the Battlin' Bears with a total time of 1:06.87. William Mjelde and Fredrik Straume tied for third (1:07.01), Adam Wrenkler (1:08.11) finished fifth, and Maj Vorsic (1:08.49) finished sixth. 

The Battlin' Bears will turn their attention to the upcoming USCSA Western Regional, hosted at Red Lodge Mountain. The competition will start on Thursday, February 22nd.
