Rocky Men’s Basketball Falls on Senior Day 73-64

BILLINGS, Mont.- Rocky's loss on Saturday lines them up with a matchup against the third-seeded University of Providence in next week's Frontier Conference Tournament.

The Battlin' Bears got off to a strong start offensively, as Luca Brooks dropped in a tough layup to give Rocky an early 10-6 lead. The Rocky men struggled from the field offensively from then on, however, shooting just 32% from the field in the half with seven turnovers. The Bulldogs finished the first half on a 9-2 run to grab a four-point lead going into halftime.

Montana Western continued their momentum into the opening of the second half, rallying for a 10-0 run to open the second half, grabbing their largest lead of the day at 14 points. Freshman Liam Romei put together a solid effort off the bench in the second half, scoring eight straight points for the Battlin' Bears as they cut the deficit down to eight with 13 minutes remaining.

Cade Tyson sank a three after a timeout inside of five minutes to go in the game to cut the Rocky deficit down to just five, but Michael Haverfield ultimately iced the game for the Bulldogs, hitting back-to-back three-pointers to give Montana Western a double-digit lead that they would ride until the final buzzer.

Liam Romei was the leading scorer with 16 points off the bench, all coming in the second half. Kael Robinson finished with 14 points and four rebounds, while Cade Tyson and Brett Clark each added eight points each in the loss.

Jalyn Stepney finished as the game's leading scorer with 24 points as four Bulldogs scored in double figures.

Rocky's loss on Saturday places them as the sixth seed in next week's Frontier Conference Tournament and secures a matchup with the third-seeded University of Providence. The Battlin' Bears won the season series with the Argos in the regular season.

The Battlin' Bears' first-round matchup is scheduled to tip off at 3:00 pm (MT) in the Four Seasons Arena in Great Falls.
