Rocky Ski Finishes the Weekend with Slalom Sweep in Red Lodge

RED LODGE, Mont.- The Battlin' Bears put together a dominant weekend in Red Lodge, wrapping up the Western Region Championships with an impressive sweep of the men's and women's slalom on Saturday. 

In the men's slalom, the Battlin' Bears individually secured all top six finishes, and all nine racers that finished placed inside of the top 13 overall. Fredrik Straume was the top finisher overall with a combined time of 1:39.25. The following finishers all finished within the top 15 overall in a field of 120 skiers to compete on Saturday:

The Rocky men took first place with a team time of 5:02.61, 17 seconds ahead of second place Air Force. 

Synne Kvinlog grabbed an individual victory on the women's side, finishing with a combined time of 1:50.01, including the fastest run of the day on her second run, finishing in 53.46 seconds. Hilde Iren Sato and Bergitte Varne rounded out the podium places, as Sato finished second with a combined time of 1:51.39 and Varne in third with a combined time of 1:51.57. Reese Harman grabbed a spot in the top 15 with a combined time 2:05.07. 

The Rocky women finished first with a team time of 5:32.97, an eye-popping 26 seconds ahead of second-place University of Colorado Boulder. 

The Battlin' Bears will hope to continue their momentum as they head to Lake Placid, New York to compete in the USCSA National Championship beginning Tuesday, March 5th.
