Rocky Volleyball Earns Four-Set Victory Over Montana Tech on Friday Evening

BUTTE, Mont.—The Battlin' Bears grabbed their first win over Montana Tech in Butte since the Spring 2021 season to kickstart their conference schedule. 

How it Happened
While the match went to four sets, the Battlin' Bears were in control throughout the contest. They hit over .200% in three of the four sets while holding the Orediggers to under the .200 % hitting percentage mark in three of the four sets. 

Rocky dominated at the net in their victory, totaling 16 blocks in four sets, including five different Battlin' Bears, who contributed at least one block assist. Gabriella Panzetta led the way with 11 total blocks, the most in a single game by a Battlin' Bear since Morgan Allen tallied 11 against Providence in 2019. 

Makenna Bushman and Kaitlyn Wood led the charge with 12 kills each in the victory. Bushman added eight total blocks, 15 digs, and two service aces in an all-around dominant performance, while Wood had an eye-popping hitting percentage of .550%. Bella Bryan added nine kills and four total blocks, while Blythe Sealey finished with 41 assists in the win.

The Battlin' Bears (9-3, 1-0 conf.) will play three times in the coming week. They will take on MSU-Billings on Tuesday evening in Alterowitz Gym, then host the University of Providence on Thursday and MSU-Northern on Saturday.
