Rocky Volleyball Falls in Four Sets to MSU-Northern

BILLINGS, Mont.—The Battlin' Bears struggled offensively at home, dropping Saturday afternoon's match in four sets to the Skylights. 

How it Happened
The first set was one to forget for the Battlin' Bears, as nothing seemed to go their way. The Skylight hit at a .351 percentage compared to Rocky's -.028, along with seven attack errors for Rocky as they fell 25-14 to start. 

The Battlin' Bears rallied to take the second set after a slow start, thanks to six kills in the second set from Ella Kincaid, who helped Rocky raise their hitting percentage to .222 in their second-set victory. 

Self-inflicted errors hurt Rocky in the third set, totaling ten attack errors, giving the Skylights a major advantage. 

Makenna Bushman was a major factor for the Battlin' Bears in the fourth set. A pair of early kills propelled the Battlin' Bears to a lead. Another Bushman kill would give Rocky an 18-14 lead. However, the Skylights had the final say, as they erupted for a 9-1 run to seal the fourth set and the match. 

Rocky struggled with its attack throughout, finishing with 26 attack errors and a team hitting percentage of .129. 

Ella Kincaid finished the day with a career-high 14 kills and 14 digs. Makenna Bushman totaled 14 kills and 20 digs, Brooke Ark tallied 30 digs, and Blythe Sealey dished 44 assists.

The Battlin' Bears (9-6, 1-2 conf.) will look ahead to try and shake off a three-game losing skid against #13 Montana Western on Thursday in Dillon.
