Rocky XC Competes Well Against Strong Field at the Jimmie Invitational

JAMESTOWN, N.D.- Lining up against a field of NCAA DI and DII opponents, Rocky XC finished strong, with the men taking third place and the women taking fourth. 

Justin Glass led the men, placing 12th overall and trailing a lead pack of DI runners from North Dakota and North Dakota State with an overall time of 25:19.8. John Spinti (25:27.9) and Corbyn Svec (25:28.2) followed inside the top 20, finishing side-by-side in 17th and 18th, respectively. 

Zachary Zwiesler and Joseph Orndorff rounded out the Battlin' Bear scorers, with Zwiesler finishing 28th with a time of 26:03.1 and Orndorff crossing the line in 26:07.3 to place 32nd. Matthew Conrad took 36th with a time of 26:29.3, and Caleb Tomac placed 51st with a time of 26:58.0. 

The Battlin' Bear men placed third overall with a total of 95 team points. They finished behind NCAA DI teams North Dakota and North Dakota State, and defeated NCAA Division II programs MSU-Moorhead, University of Mary, University of Jamestown, Northern State, and Minot State. Rocky also bested fellow Frontier Conference programs Bismarck State and Valley City State. 

On the women's side, Jayden Woodland again led the charge, finishing 21st overall with a time of 22:58.4. Hannah Geisen followed in 32nd, completing the 6K race in 23:31.9. Kallyn Wilkins and Maya Pearcy paced together, with Wilkins finishing in 46th place with a time of 24:14.6 and Pearcy following in 49th with a time of 24:19.8. Rylie Schoenfeld rounded out the Battlin' Bear scorers, finishing 61st overall with a time of 25:06.0. 

The Battlin' Bears finished fourth overall with a team score of 145. They held the tiebreaker with the University of Jamestown, who also scored 145 points. Rocky bested other NCAA DII programs, Northern State, Bemidji State, and MSU-Moorhead.

Rocky XC will have their first opportunity to run in the Billings area next week, hosting the Frontier Conference Preview Meet at Amend Park on Friday October 10th.
