Rocky Men’s Basketball Cruises to 99-58 Victory Over Bismarck State

BISMARCK, N.D.- Rocky Men's Basketball earned a lopsided 99-58 victory in Bismarck on Friday evening. 

Rocky opened the contest with a 14-0 run through the first five minutes of the contest and never looked back, extending a lead as large as 43 points in their dominant road victory. 

How It Happened

The Battlin' Bears got it done on both ends of the floor to open a sizeable lead in the first half, shooting 58.3% from the field, 44.4% from three, totaling six offensive rebounds, and forcing 11 turnovers. Those turnovers translated to 21 points off turnovers in the first half alone, leading to a 52-17 halftime advantage. 

Rocky continued to push the pace into the second half, extending their lead as large as 43 to earn their first conference victory of the season. Rocky was able to rotate the entirety of their traveling roster in the second half, including the first collegiate points for Missoula Sentinel product Carson Towe, who finished with five points and two steals. 

Notable Statistics

Royce Robinson finished with an excellent stat line, totaling 19 points on eight-of-eight shooting from the field, along with eight rebounds and three steals. Cameron Quinnell added 18 points off the bench on eight-of-ten shooting, along with six rebounds and two steals. Also in double figures were Drew Bowman (12), Kade Erickson (11), and Omari Nesbit (10). Nesbit totaled a game-high four steals, while Carter McCoy added nine points, eight rebounds, and five assists. 

Rocky finished the game shooting 58.7% from the field and sinking 12 three-pointers at a 44.4% rate. The Battlin' Bears dominated the boards with a 39-22 advantage, including ten offensive rebounds. The Rocky bench totaled 55 points, while Rocky totaled 42 points in the paint. 

Bismarck State's Houston Davis totaled 17 points and seven rebounds in the defeat.
