Rocky Men’s Basketball Snags 65-62 Victory Over Dickinson State

DICKINSON, N.D.- Omari Nesbit scored the go-ahead basket with 13 seconds remaining and followed it up with a game-clinching steal to help the Battlin' Bears to a three-point victory on the road.

After a slow offensive output in comparison to Friday's 99-point eruption, Royce Robinson rallied the Battlin' Bears with a personal 7-0 run to snag a lead, paving the way for Omari Nesbit to seal the contest in the final 30 seconds.

How It Happened

Rocky's offense had a sluggish start in Dickinson, shooting just 26.9% from the field in the first half. The Battlin' Bears made up for this by converting ten-of-12 from the free throw line and controlled five offensive rebounds. Kyle Jones and Drew Bowman scored on consecutive possessions to give the Battlin' Bears a slim three-point lead with seven minutes remaining in the half. The Blue Hawks would build a seven-point lead over the final five minutes of the half, but Cameron Quinnell would beat the first half buzzer with a three-pointer to cut the Battlin' Bear deficit to four.

Omari Nesbit would heat up in the second half, putting together an 8-0 run by himself to snag a one-point lead back from Dickinson State. A quick response from the Blue Hawks would come in the form of a 9-2 run to take their lead right back with under 10 minutes to go. Royce Robinson would take charge in the final five minutes, scoring nine consecutive points to give Rocky their largest lead of the contest, 60-55, with under two minutes to go. The Blue Hawks would take a one-point lead following a tough layup with under 30 seconds remaining, but Omari Nesbit would hit a big shot for Rocky to give them the lead right back. Nesbit would follow up his big shot by stripping the ball away on Dickinson's game-winning attempt, taking the steal and running down the court for an insurance two points, ultimately sealing Rocky's dramatic victory.
