Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Rocky Men’s Basketball Drops Rimrock Rivalry Matchup 89-77

BILLINGS, Mont.- Rocky Men's Basketball fell in a road Rimrock Rivalry matchup on Monday night to MSU Billings.

The loss snaps a four-game win streak in Alterowitz Gym for the Battlin' Bears, winning each game played in their rival's gym since the 2021-22 season.

How It Happened

A physical first half had the intensity of a rivalry game, despite many new faces on the court. The Yellowjackets snagged momentum going into the halftime break, putting together a fast-paced 16-6 run to extend a double-digit advantage. Mekhi Jourdan helped slow the momentum headed into the halftime break, sinking a three-pointer as time expired to cut Rocky's deficit to 51-40. MSU Billings was efficient in the first half, shooting 66% from the floor going into the locker room.

The Battlin' Bears struggled offensively to begin the second half, being held without a field goal for over eight minutes to open the half, as Kyle Jones finally broke the seal with a three-pointer, snapping an 11-1 run by the Yellowjackets. Jones' three would help start a Rocky run, sparking 16-5 run to cut the Battlin' Bear deficit down to ten with seven minutes remaining. While a Royce Robinson three-pointer cut the Yellowjacket lead to single digits with four minutes remaining, MSU Billings would hit their next three shots from the field to pull away for a victory in the first of two Rimrock Rivalry matchups of the season.

Royce Robinson led the way with a team-high 19 points and 11 rebounds, while also adding four assists. Kyle Jones came off the bench to add 15 points on five made threes, while Omari Nesbit also finished in double figures with 14 points and four assists.
