Jetmore Leaps Qualifying Standard to Highlight Yellowjackets/Battlin’ Bears Open

BILLINGS, Mont.- Jay Jetmore earned his fourth career national qualifying mark after leaping a B-Standard mark in the pole vault to lead Rocky in a chilly outing in their second home meet at Lockwood High School. 

Women's Notable Results

Charlize Davis lept the second-best mark in program history, coming up just short of her record-setting leap a week ago to win the women's long jump. Davis finished with a final mark of 5.55 meters (18-02.50), while Brooke Wirkkala finished second with a leap of 5.35 meters (17-06.75), the sixth-best mark in program history. 

Given the cold conditions, the Battlin' Bears 4x800-meter relay team of Grace Timm, Tyne Stokes, Maya Pearcy, and Kallyn Wilkins put together a strong effort. They ran the third fastest time in program history, finishing in 9:33.62. 

Brooke Wirkkala tied for the third-best mark in program history in the high jump, winning the event with a mark of 1.55 meters (5-01.00). Charlize Davis followed behind in second place with a leap of 1.50 meters (4-11.00), tying for the fifth-best mark in program history. 

Charlize Davis and Devon McHenry led the charge, going 1-2 in the women's 100-meter hurdles. Davis ran the sixth-best time in program history, finishing in 15.43 seconds. 

Hannah Christman won the women's pole vault with a season-best mark of 2.90 meters (9-06.25). 

Men's Notable Results

Jay Jetmore secured his fourth trip to the NAIA National Championships, leaping 4.80 meters in the pole vault, a B-Standard mark, and tied for the second-best mark in program history. Rocky swept the top four places in the pole vault overall, with Garrett Meier in second (4.05m), Scott Hunsaker in third (4.05m), and Abram King in fourth place (3.75m). 

Ryan LaMere ran a new collegiate best of 10.99 seconds in the 100-meter race, taking second overall and running the second-best time in program history. 

Trystin Chapel won the men's long jump with a final mark of 6.96 meters (22-10.00), the second-best mark in program history. Campbell Smith followed in second place with a leap of 6.13 meters (20-01.50). 

Logan Hughes tossed the second-best hammer throw in program history, finishing second overall with a mark of 46.75 meters. 

Campbell Smith tied his season-best 1.80 meters (5-10.75) to take second overall and tie for the fifth-best mark in program history in the high jump. 

The Battlin' Bear 4x100-meter relay team ran the sixth fastest time in program history, winning the event in 43.58 seconds. 

Trystin Chapel also placed second overall in the triple jump, leaping a final mark of 11.96 meters (29-03.00), a mark that ranks seventh in program history. 

Chad Lindsay ran a new personal best of 22.89 seconds in the 200-meter race, placing sixth overall and securing the ninth-best time in program history. 

Drifter Skillicorn won the men's 400-meter with a time of 54.71 seconds. 

The Battlin' Bear distance crew swept the top ten places in the men's 1,500-meter, led by Caleb Tomac's victory with a time of 4:30.79.

Rocky Track and Field will hit the road for the first time in the outdoors season, as they travel to Missoula next weekend to compete in the Al Manuel Invitational.
