Pearcy and Morris Surpass Qualifying Standards at the Inaugural Dave Coppock Yellowjacket Open

BILLINGS, Mont.- Maya Pearcy dashed the second-fastest 800-meter time in the NAIA this season, while Keenan Morris earned his first Outdoor Qualifying Standard in the pole vault to highlight Rocky's efforts at the first-ever Dave Coppock Yellowjacket Open at Lockwood High School. 

Men's Notable Results

Keenan Morris earned a 'B' Standard mark in the pole vault, leaping 4.80 meters (15-09), matching his personal best and winning the event. Morris also matched his program record in the high jump, clearing 1.96 meters (6-05) to take third overall. 

The Battlin' Bear 4x100 meter relay team of Trevor Walter, Ryan LaMere, Jack Phelps, and Chris Klueg set a new program record, finishing second-place with a time of 42.66 seconds. 

Raynor Ranum recorded a new program record in the discus with a toss of 45.62 meters (148-08) to place fourth overall. He also finished sixth in the shot put, recording his best mark of 14.67 meters, the fifth-best mark in program history. 

Freshman Mason Meier broke the program record in the javelin for the second consecutive week, finishing fifth overall with a toss of 53.86 meters (176-08). Travis Caton also made his way into the program record book for the second straight week, placing 15th with a best mark of 46.60m    (152-11), the third-best toss in program history. 

Ryan LaMere earned a third-place finish in the 100 meters, crossing the line in 11.02 seconds, the ninth-fastest time in program history. He also finished third in the 200 meters, finishing with the second-fastest time in program history in 21.84 seconds, after setting the program record a week ago. 

Logan Hughes threw the second-best mark of his career and in program history with a mark of 51.40 meters (168-07) to take third place. 

Robby Gress finished seventh in the 400-meter hurdles, running the eighth-fastest time in program history with a time of 59.98 seconds. 

John Spinti earned a second-place finish in the 5,000-meters with a time of 15:09.16. 

The Rocky men finished fourth overall, totaling 64 team points. The University of Mary won the inaugural Dave Coppock Yellowjacket Open with 221 team points. 

Women's Notable Results

Maya Pearcy recorded an 'A' Standard time in the 800-meter, as the 2026 Indoors Runner-up in the 800 won the event on Saturday with a time of 2:10.68, the second-fastest time in program history and the second fastest time in the NAIA so far this season. 

After setting the new program record a week ago, freshman Hadley Jones tossed the third-best mark in program history in the javelin, taking eighth place with a toss of 37.00 meters (121-05). 

Charlize Davis won the 100-meter hurdles event, nearing her own school record with a time of 14.84 seconds. She also placed sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.78 seconds. 

Jayden Woodland took third-place in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:56.47.

Hannah Christman placed third in the pole vault, clearing 2.95 meters. 

The Battlin' Bear women finished sixth overall with a team score of 33. The University of Mary completed the meet sweep with a win on the women's side, totaling 232 points.

Rocky Track and Field will prepare for back-to-back trips to Butte, Montana, to compete in a pair of Montana Tech Spring Series meets at Charlie Merrifield Track.
