Timm Runs B-Standard Qualifying Mark in Dickinson; Davis Places Third and King Takes Fifth in Multis Championship Event

BILLINGS, Mont.- Grace Timm earned a B-Standard qualifying mark with a program record run in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. At the same time, Charlize Davis took third in the women's heptathlon in Helena to highlight a Battlin' Bear Track and Field program that competed in two states on Friday and Saturday. 

Multis Championship Notable Results (Trudnowski Open)

The Trudnowski Open, hosted by Carroll College in Helena, was the Frontier Conference Championship event for the Decathlon and Heptathlon on Friday and Saturday. 

Charlize Davis placed third overall in the Heptathlon, totaling 3,733 points, the second-best finish in program history. Davis won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.00 seconds (fourth-best time in program history) and the 200-meter in 26.45 seconds (sixth-best time in program history), while taking second place in the javelin with a toss of 34.03 meters (111 feet, 8 inches) and second in the long jump with a leap of 5.45 meters (17 feet, 10.75 inches). 

Abram King placed fifth overall in the Decathlon, totaling 5011 points. His notable finishes included a third-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 11.43 meters (37 feet, 6 inches) and a third-place finish in the 1,500 meters with a time of 5:24.15, a personal best. His point total of 5,011 ranks fourth all-time in program history. 

Rocky throwers also competed in Helena, as Logan Hughes tossed the third-best hammer throw mark in program history, throwing 48.07 meters (157 feet, 8 inches) to take third place and the ninth-best shot put mark in program history with a toss of 13.90 meters (45 feet, 7.25 inches) to take fifth overall. 

Women's Notable Results (Blue Hawk Games)

Grace Timm earned a B-Standard qualifying time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, winning the event with a time of 11:09.64, a new personal best and program record. The qualifying time marks the second-career qualifying time in the steeplechase, doing so one other time at Dickinson State in 2023, where she took 15th overall at the NAIA National Championships with a time of 11:13.32, her previous personal best. 

Brooke Wirkkala leaped the second-best mark in program history in the high jump, finishing second overall with a mark of 1.60 meters (5 feet, 3 inches). She also jumped a personal best in the long jump, with a top mark of 5.47 meters (17 feet, 11.5 inches), the third-best mark in program history. 

Tyne Stokes ran a new personal best and the third-best time in program history in the 400-meter, finishing in 1:00.15. 

Maya Pearcy won the 800-meter with a new personal best of 2:16.23, ranking ninth in program history. 

Jayden Woodland ran a new personal best to win the 1,500-meter, crossing the line in 4:50.93. 

The Rocky women took fourth overall with 74 total team points.

Men's Notable Results (Blue Hawk Games)

Corbyn Svec became the first Battlin' Bear to break ten minutes in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, running a new personal best and program record of 9:48.05. Connor Chase also ran a personal-best, crossing the line in 10:18.86, the fifth-best time in program history. 

Campbell Smith tied the program record in the high jump with a new personal best of 1.85 meters (6 feet, 0.75 inches) to place fourth overall. 

Ryan LaMere tied his personal-best in the 100-meter, finishing in 10.98 seconds, which also ties the second-best time in program history to take 11th overall. Drifter Skillicorn ran a personal-best of 11.07 seconds, which ranks fifth in program history. 

Skillicorn also ran a personal best in the 200 meters, tying the second-best time in program history with a time of 22.34 seconds, placing ninth overall. 

Trystin Chapel and Drifter Skillicorn leaped top-ten marks in program history in the long jump, as Chapel placed third overall with a mark of 6.98 meters (22 feet, 11 inches), the third-best mark in program history, while Skillicorn jumped 6.77 meters (22 feet, 2.5 inches) to take sixth overall, the fifth-best mark in program history. 

Chapel also jumped the fourth-best mark in program history in the triple jump, placing fourth overall with a mark of 13.36 meters (43 feet, 10 inches). 

Christian Gonzalez ran a personal-best in the 400-meter hurdles and the ninth-best time in program history, placing 13th overall with a time of 1:03.98. 

John Spinti made his outdoor debut in his freshman season with a second-place finish in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:05.39, leading four Battlin' Bears in the top ten overall. 

The Rocky men placed fifth overall, totaling 58 team points.

Up Next

Rocky Track and Field will compete in the Montana Open next Friday and Saturday in Missoula. This is their final competition before the Frontier Conference Championships, which begin Sunday, May 4th, in Helena.
