Spinti’s Victory; Woodland’s Runner-Up Finish Paces Rocky XC to Team Sweep of the Blue Hawk Invitational

MEDORA, N.D.- The Rocky men finished 1-2-3, while the women placed four in the top ten to secure team victories at the Blue Hawk Invitational on Saturday. 

John Spinti led the charge for the Rocky men in the 8K, turning in a 12-second victory with a time of 25:05.8. Teammates Justin Glass and Corbyn Svec followed behind, with Glass taking second in 25:17.1 and Svec followed in third with a time of 25:39.8. Matthew Conrad (6th; 26:17.4) and Joseph Orndorff (8th; 26:35.8) rounded out the Battlin' Bear scorers. Caleb Tomac placed 14th with a time of 27:20.2, and Connor Chase followed in 24th with a time of 28:26.7. 

Rocky's men turned in a dominant victory, finishing with 19 team points, 49 points ahead of the runner-ups Jamestown and Bismarck State, who tied for second place. 

Jayden Woodland led the Battlin' Bear women in the 6k with a second-place finish, crossing the line in 22:55.7, the third-best 6k time in program history. Hannah Geisen and Maya Pearcy finished back-to-back, with Geisen placing sixth with a time of 23:32.4 and Pearcy finished in seventh with a time of 23:34.8. Kallyn Wilkins placed tenth with a time of 23:48.3, and Rylie Schoenfeld rounded out the Battlin' Bears with a 13th-place place in 24:26.3. 

The Battlin' Bears totaled a team score of 34 points, besting Rimrock Rivla MSU Billings by 13 points.

Rocky XC will return to North Dakota in two weeks to compete in the Jimmie Invitational, hosted by the University of Jamestown.
