(RV) Rocky Men’s Basketball Earns Fifth Straight Win 77-62 Over Argos

GREAT FALLS, Mont.- A season-high 22 points from Sherman Royal III highlighted a strong road victory for the Battlin' Bears. 

An efficient offensive night saw the team shoot over 50% from the field, 40% from three, and 90% from the charity stripe, as nine different Battlin' Bears scored four or more points in the win. 

How It Happened

Providence took the first swing on their home floor, jumping out to a 7-0 lead after holding Rocky scoreless through the opening four minutes. The Battlin' Bears would awaken from the floor, quickly swinging momentum with a 12-3 response to take a lead. After the Argos would even up the contest. Kade Erickson would help spark Rocky off the bench, contributing six points amidst a 12-4 run going inside of five minutes to play in the first half. Mekhi Jourdan would drill a three-pointer with under a minute to go to extend Rocky's lead to double figures, headed into halftime. 

With Providence attempting to claw back, Sherman Royal III would total a personal 8-0 run, bringing the Battlin' Bear lead back into double digits. The defense would help take over, holding the Argos to under 40% shooting from the field through the first 15 minutes, eventually growing a lead as large as 25 with four minutes remaining, enough to cruise to a fifth consecutive victory. 

Notable Statistics

Sherman Royal III totaled a season-high 22 points on an efficient nine-of-13 from the field and four-of-four from the free throw line. The senior forward also snagged a team-high six rebounds. Carter McCoy also finished in double figures with 14 points, sinking all six of his free throw attempts. Omari Nesbit grabbed six rebounds with two steals and a block, while Royce Robinson added five assists and five rebounds. 

The Rocky men shot 51.9% from the field, 42.1% from three-point range, and 93.8% from the free throw line, sinking 15-of-16 overall. The Battlin' Bears held a commanding edge in rebounding, 33-17, including nine offensive rebounds. 

Jakub Lloyd finished with 16 points to lead the Argos.
