Rocky Ski Sweeps First Day of USCSA Grand Teton/Rocky Meet in Colorado

CRESTED BUTTE, Colo.- Led by victories from Aniol Torres and Linnea Olesen, Rocky Ski combined for eight top-five finishes on the first day of Slalom competition in Colorado.  

Women's Slalom Results

Linnea Olesen earned an individual victory with a total time of 1:22.25, with teammate Elisabeth Grimkelsrud following in second with a total time of 1:22.27. Olesen recorded the fastest time of the field on the second run, finishing in 42.58 seconds. Synne Kvinlog followed in fourth place overall with a total time of 1:23.28, while Klara Almqvist (7th, 1:26.14) and Jenny Sjotun (8th, 1:26.26) also recorded top-ten finishes. 

Rounding out Rocky's finishers included Sara Akerstrom (14th; 1:30.99), Courtney Bumpers (16th; 1:32.94), Paige Heinz (17th; 1:33.43), Malia Grantor (29th; 1:41.61), Cora Moriarty (38th; 1:55.43), and Mikayla Murolo (42nd; 1:59.50).

The Battlin' Bears cruised to a team victory on the first day, with the University of Utah following in second and the University of Colorado following in third.  

Men's Slalom Results

The Rocky men dominated on the opening day of competition, placing seven of their nine finishers on the day in the top ten overall. Aniol Torres led the charge with a victory, totaling a time of 1:19.14. Daen Bruin (2nd), Jules Clerice (3rd), Zachary Bion (4th), and Fredrik Straume (5th) rounded out the top five, all finishing within a second of each other overall. 

William Mjelde (7th; 1:22.52) and Nick Tibro (8th; 1:23.82) also earned top-ten finishes on Saturday. Rounded out Rocky's competitors included Soren Krych (19th; 1:28.94) and Landon Marquis (22nd; 1:30.06). 

The Battlin' Bear men earned a lopsided team victory on Saturday.

The Battlin' Bears will round out competition in Colorado on Sunday with a second day of Slalom.
