Three Battlin’ Bears Earn Individual Titles; Seven Break Program Records as Rocky Track and Field Men and Women Finish Sixth at the Frontier Conference Championships

DICKINSON, N.D.- Keenan Morris, Justin Glass, and Maya Pearcy earned individual titles, while seven other Battlin' Bears set new program records to lead Rocky Track and Field to sixth-place finishes at the Frontier Conference Championships in Dickinson. 

Men's Notable Results

Keenan Morris continues to compile one of the most impressive freshman campaigns in the NAIA this season, soaring to new heights after winning the pole vault, clearing 5.20 meters (17-00.75). His new personal best and program record lead the NAIA by nearly four inches and is the best mark by a freshman in the NAIA since 2010. 

All six Battlin' Bears that competed in the pole vault cleared personal bests, including  Scott Hunsaker in fifth place (4.65m) and Travis Caton in eighth (4.50m). 

Justin Glass was crowned the individual champion in the men's 5,000 meters with a time of 15:27.82, a 13-second victory for the graduating senior from Saint Louis. 

Raynor Ranum earned All-Conference honors in the shot put, finishing second overall with a toss of 15.80 meters (51-10), the third-best mark in program history. Ranum came within four feet of a medalist spot in the discus, finishing fourth overall with a toss of 43.81 meters (143-08), the eighth-best mark in program history. 

Logan Hughes recorded a new program record and an NAIA 'B' Standard mark in the hammer throw, finishing third overall with a toss of 54.94 meters (180-03). His new personal best ranks 19th in the NAIA this season. 

Keenan Morris and Campbell Smith both cleared 1.91 meters (6-03.25) in the high jump, with Morris finishing fourth overall and Smith following in seventh. Their marks tie for the fourth-best in program history. 

Zachary Zwiesler earned a fifth-place finish in the 10,000 meters with a raw time of 33:04.31. 

Corbyn Svec concluded his collegiate career with a fifth-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase, totaling a time of 10:00.44. His finish is the fourth-fastest in program history, and he graduates holding all five of the fastest finishes in the 3k steeple chase in Battlin' Bear history. 

The Rocky 4x100 meter relay team of Trevor Walter, Drifter Skillicorn, Jack Phelps, and Ryan LaMere finished fifth place with a time of 42.96 seconds, the fourth-best time in program history. 

Ryan LaMere finished sixth in Saturday's prelims for the 100-meter with a new personal best and program record of 10.53 seconds. The sophomore came back on Sunday to take fifth place in the 100-meter with a time of 10.56 seconds. 

Matthew Conrad finished sixth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:08.24.

Robby Gress took eighth place in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 59.75 seconds, the eighth fastest time in program history. The senior from Billings finished his collegiate career holding seven of the top ten fastest 400-meter hurdle times in program history. Gress also set a new personal best in the 110-meter hurdles prelims on Saturday, finishing 12th with a time of 15.85 seconds, the third fastest time in program history. 

Mason Meier finished tenth in the javelin throw with a toss of 48.13 meters (157-11), the sixth-best mark in program history. 

The Battlin' Bear men finished sixth overall, totaling 68 team points. Montana Tech earned the team title with 154 points. 

Women's Notable Results

Maya Pearcy was crowned the individual champion in the 800 meters, crossing the line in 2:13.92, earning a three-second victory in Dickinson. Pearcy also earned All-Conference honors in the 400-meter with a personal best time of 58.30 seconds, breaking her own program record. 

Charlize Davis earned a new program record in the 100-meter hurdles in the prelims on Saturday, finishing second overall with a time of 14.21 seconds. She returned to finish sixth in the finals on Sunday, clocking 14.88 seconds. Davis also placed 11th in the 100 meters, finishing in 12.43 seconds, the fifth-fastest time in program history and a new personal best. 

Jayden Woodland ran a new personal best to earn All-Conference honors in the 5,000 meters, crossing the finish line in 18:44.87, the seventh-fastest time in program history. 

Rylie Schoenfeld finished eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:27.68.

Brooke Wirkkala earned All-Conference honors in the high jump, clearing 1.62 meters (5-03.75). She also finished fourth in the long jump, recording a personal best 5.68 meters (18-07.75), a new program record. 

Hannah Christman finished fourth in the pole vault, clearing 3.08 meters (10-01.25). 

Making her debut in the event, freshman Aislynn Campbell set a new program record in the hammer throw, tossing 42.81 meters (140-05) to place ninth overall. 
 
The Battlin' Bears finished in sixth place, totaling 47 team points. Dakota State finished as the team champions with 167 team points.

Rocky Track and Field will now prepare for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, beginning May 20th and hosted in Asheville, North Carolina.
