Keenan Morris Clears Top Mark in the NAIA to Highlight Rocky’s Finish at the Digger Spring Series Meet

BUTTE, Mont.- Freshman Keenan Morris set a new program record and the best mark in the NAIA this season in the pole vault, while Raynor Ranum, Logan Hughes, and the Rocky 4x100 meter relay team also recorded new program records in Butte on Saturday.  

Men's Notable Results

After clearing a 'B' Standard mark of 4.80 meters (15-09) in last week's meet in Billings, freshman Keenan Morris improved his personal best and set a new program record, clearing 5.01 meters (16-05.25). His mark sets a new program record, besting All-American Jay Jetmore's record from a season ago (4.90 meters) to win the event. 

Freshman Raynor Ranum shattered a seven-year-old program record in the shot put, recording a new personal best of 15.75 meters (51-08.25) to place third overall in the event. He also recorded a new program record in the discus with a toss of 46.24 meters (151-08) to take second. Ranum bested his own personal best from a week ago of 45.62 meters in Billings. 

The Battlin' Bear 4x100-meter relay team of Trevor Walter, Drifter Skillicorn, Jack Phelps, and Ryan LaMere set a new program record for the second consecutive week, winning the event with a time of 42.51 seconds. 

Logan Hughes placed second in the hammer throw, tossing a personal best and program record of 52.70 meters (172-11). The junior recorded a pair of throws over 52 meters, as he already owns the top 10 marks in program history. 

Campbell Smith set a new personal best in the high jump of 1.92 meters (06-03.25) to win the event, recording the third-best mark in program history. 

Ryan LaMere won both the 100 meters with a time of 11.42 seconds and the 200 meters with a time of 22.34 seconds. His time in the 200-meter ties the eighth-best time in program history. 

Mason Meier totaled the third-best finish in program history in the javelin, recording a best-mark of 51.75 meters (169-09) to take second overall. 

Robby Gress finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.02, ranking as the sixth-fastest in program history and his fastest of the season, as the senior holds seven of the top 10 times in program history. 

The Battlin' Bear men placed second overall in a field against the Montana-based Frontier Conference schools, totaling 129 points. Host school Montana Tech won the meet with 169 points. 

Women's Notable Results

Charlize Davis won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.24 seconds and placed third in the 100 meters with a time of 12.93 seconds. 

Maya Pearcy won the 1,500-meter race with a time of 4:52.27, a new personal best, while also placing third in the 800-meter with a time of 2:25.90. 

Jayden Woodland earned first-place in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:46.76, a new personal best and the ninth-fastest time in program history. Her time, without altitude adjustment, ranks fourth in the Frontier Conference this season. 

Brooke Wirkkala won the high jump, clearing 1.62 meters (05-03.75), the third-best mark in program history. She also earned a second-place finish in the long jump, jumping 5.47 meters (17-11.5), tying the fourth-best mark in program history. 

Freshman Hadley Jones recorded the second-best mark in program history in the javelin, tossing 37.15 meters (121-10) to place sixth overall. 

The Battlin' Bear women totaled 70 team points to place fourth overall.
