No. 8 Rocky Set for CCC Tournament as No. 2-Seed

BILLINGS, Mont. – The No. 8 Rocky Mountain College men's soccer team will begin the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament on Friday against Evergreen State College at noon MT. Rocky is the tournament's No. 2-seed while Evergreen is the No. 7-seed.
 
The CCC Tournament is being played at the Willamalane Sports Complex in Springfield, Ore. All four quarterfinal games will be played on Friday. The teams will be reseeded for Saturday's semifinals and the two remaining teams will meet for the title on Monday.
 
All of the games during the tournament will be available on the CCC streaming page at portal.stretchinternet.com/ccc. There is a fee of $7.95 per game. Live stats can also be found at the same link. Links for live features during game splayed by Rocky will be posted on Facebook and Twitter on game days by following @battlinbears.
 
Rocky ended the regular season with a record of 15-1-1 and riding a 12-game unbeaten streak. The claimed a share of the regular season CCC title with Southern Oregon after going 11-1-1 and recording 34 points. The Battlin' Bears have now won or shared the CCC title all three years they have played in the conference.
 
Rocky leads the CCC in scoring 3.76 goals per game – eighth in the NAIA – and their 64 total goals rank fifth in the nation. They are second nationally in taking 23.47 shots per game with the 11.0 shots on goal per game placing sixth in the country.
 
The Battlin' Bears have surrendered just 13 goals on the season and they have eight shutouts. Rocky keepers have totaled 47 saves with a .783 save percentage.
 
Marco Kummerle leads the team with 11 goals and 29 points. He ranks second in the CCC and 31st in the NAIA by recording 2.07 points per game while his 0.79 goals per game is third in the conference and 43rd nationally.
 
Chasen Lashure is second behind Kummerle on the team with nine goals scored. Pablo Ferreira has scored six goals with Sky Swenson and Sam Davidson each posting five goals.
 
Jonah Gronmayer leads the team with nine assists. That places him 18th in the NAIA with his 0.56 assists per game leads the CCC and is 23rd nationally.
 
Cole Catlin has started every game in goal and he is 20th in the NAIA with a 0.80 goals-against-average. Catlin has made 41 saves with a .759 save percentage while posting a 15-1-1 record with six shutouts.
 
Rocky is 2-0-4 all-time against Evergreen State after playing the Geoducks to a 1-1 draw last Friday in Olympia. The last three meetings between the two teams has ended in a tie. They met in the semifinals of the 2015 CCC Tournament where Rocky advanced 4-3 in penalties after the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
 
The Battlin' Bears will enter this year's CCC Tournament looking for its second title. They won in 2015 after defeating Great Falls, 1-0, in the final. Last season, Rocky was ousted by Great Falls, 4-0, in the semifinals. They are 3-1-1 all-time at the event and have never lost in quarterfinals.
 
The 32-team field for the NAIA National Championships will be announced on November 13. Rocky can secure a berth in the field if they win the conference tournament or by both Rocky and Southern Oregon making the final.
