Zuleta’s Individual Victory Leads Rocky Women to Win; Rocky Men Finish Tied for Fourth at Beartooth Invitational

LAUREL, Mont.- Valentina Zuleta cruised to her third individual victory in as many meets this season to lead the Rocky women to a victory, while the Rocky men finished tied for fourth in a competitive field.

Zuleta continued to shine, shooting an even-par 216 (72,73,71) for a twenty-stroke victory. Grace Metcalf tied for second overall, finishing with a 20-over-par 236 (75,74,87). Tyla Potgieter (11th, 28-over-par 244 (77,84,83)) and Kadence Fischer (T-18th, 39-over-par 255 (87,83,85)) rounded out the Rocky scorers.

The Rocky women finished with a team score of 85-over-par 949 (311, 312, 326), winning the meet with a six stroke lead over MSU Billings.

The Rocky men were led by senior Daniel Sigurjonsson, who finished 6th overall with an one-over-par 217 (73,71,73). Jake Johnson (71,76,75) and Jared Smith (77,71,74) followed Sigurjonsson up, tying for 13th overall with a six-over-par 222. Aidan McDonagh rounded out the Battlin' Bear scorers with an eight-over-par 224 (76,75,73).

North Idaho College's Josh McCartain took home individual honors, finishing 11-under-par 205 (68,69,68).

The Rocky men finished with a team score of 27-over-par 891 (300,219,300). North Idaho College took home team victory with a score of eight-under-par 858 (287,280,289).

The Battlin' Bear men and women will stay home as they look to defend the Grob and Spalding Cup next Thursday-Saturday against MSU Billings.
