Rocky Track and Field Opens the Outdoor Season With Two Qualifying Marks in Lockwood

BILLINGS, Mont.- Jay Jetmore and Sydney Little Light clinched their spots at the NAIA Outdoor T&F National Championship in their first outdoor competitions of the season as Rocky competed in Lockwood on Sunday.

Sophomore Jay Jetmore, just two weeks after competing in the NAIA Indoor National Championships, clinched his spot for the outdoor championships, vaulting 4.70 meters in the Pole Vault for a B-Standard vault in his first outdoor competition of the season. Jetmore's vault set a new Rocky school record. Jetmore also won the 100-meter race with a time of 11.11 seconds and was a member of the 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay teams.

The Battlin' Bears men finished with two other individual winners, as Quinlan Stewart finished first in the 400-meter, and Jackson Wilson took first in the 1500-meter with a time of 4:08.17. The Rocky 4x400 relay team of Jetmore, Aiden Lantis, Eric Morgan, and Jackson Wilson took the victory as well, finishing in 3:38.34.

Sydney Little Light also ran a B-Standard time on Sunday, winning the 800-meter race in a time of 2:15.58, qualifying in her first event of the outdoor season after running four individual and five total qualifying events during the indoor season.

The Battlin' Bears women finished with two other individual winners, including Kellan Wahl winning the 100-meters in 12.64 seconds and the 200-meters in 26.90 seconds, as well as Kallyn Wilkins winning the 1500-meters in a time of 5:11.79. Wahl's 100-meter finish set a new Rocky school record. The Rocky 4x400 relay team of Wahl, Jenna Hillman, Tyne Stokes, and Sydney Little Light took the victory, finishing in 4:17.40.

The Rocky men and women finished second overall in the team scores, with MSU Billings winning both the men's and women's meets.

The Battlin' Bears will continue the outdoor season as they travel to Spearfish, South Dakota to compete in the Yellow Jacket Spring Open on March 24th and 25th.
