Battlin' Bear Recap

The Rocky men look to find their momentum at the right time with the Frontier Conference Tournament just two weeks away. They have a great opportunity to do so with a top-10 opponent in Montana Tech, along with MSU-Northern on the road this weekend.

Luca Brooks has stepped up offensively for the Battlin' Bears, scoring 17 or more points in three of the last four games for Rocky, while hitting five or more threes in all three. Kael Robinson has picked up his scoring pace as well, putting together back-to-back 22+ point scoring efforts over the past weekend.

Jesse Owens has continued to be a playmaker for Rocky, dishing three or more assists in each of his last nine games.

The Rocky men will look for their first win against both opponents this season.

Preview

The Rocky men fell in their first two matchups of the season against Montana Tech and are looking for their first win over the Orediggers since 2019. Montana Tech has just one conference loss this season and has been dominant in their wins with just three of their 10 conference wins being won by less than 10 points. The Battlin' Bears played well in their first matchup with the Orediggers in Butte, taking Montana Tech to an overtime period but would fall in the final minute.

The Battlin' Bears will follow up with a game against the Lights of MSU-Northern on Saturday in Havre. The Lights have just two conference victories this season, both of which have come against Rocky. MSU-Northern has been in multiple tightly contested games as of late, as three of their last four games have been decided by four points or less. They will have a matchup with Montana Western in Dillon on Thursday before hosting Rocky on Saturday afternoon.

The Rocky men will look to put together some wins to build some momentum as they look ahead to the Frontier Conference Tournament in two weeks.
