Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Rocky Men’s Basketball Outlasts Lights 77-75

HAVRE, Mont.- Kael Robinson tallied a game-high 28 points, while A.J. Wilson dropped in the game-winning free throws in the final seconds to give the Rocky men a road victory on Saturday.

Kael Robinson was the star of the first half, exploding for 22 first-half points, including scoring nine straight points to extend Rocky's lead to 10 near the end of the first half. Northern's Rogan Barnwell beat the first-half buzzer to cut the Lights' deficit to eight entering the second half.

Both teams traded baskets throughout the start of the second half. A made three by Cade Tyson extended Rocky's lead back to 11 points with 11 minutes remaining. The Battlin' Bears would hit a cold streak offensively for the six minutes following Tyson's three, as the Lights rattled off a 12-2 run to cut their deficit to just one point. A.J. Wilson extended the lead back out to five points after back-to-back possessions where he converted two free throws, but Zackary Martinez immediately responded with a three-pointer to bring the game to 72-70 inside 2:30 remaining in the game.

The Lights' Oskar Pula dropped in his first field goal of the game to tie the game at 72-72. Following a missed free throw by the Battlin' Bears, Xavier Bailey grabbed the lead for MSU-Northern with just a minute remaining. Luca Brooks continues to be one of the most reliable shooters in the conference down the stretch of the season, knocking down a three-pointer on the following possession to grab the lead right back for Rocky.

An off-ball foul inside of 30 seconds sent MSU-Northern to the line down one, where they converted one of two opportunities. The Battlin' Bears drained the game clock down to get the final shot in a tie game. When they engaged to get their final shot, A.J. Wilson was fouled setting a screen, and was sent to the free throw line. Wilson, who has had heroics at the free throw line earlier in the season, sank both free throws and after defending the Lights' final shot, secured a Battlin' Bear victory in Havre.

Kael Robinson came just one point shy of his career high with 28 points on the day, going 5-5 from three-point range and also grabbing nine rebounds. A.J. Wilson finished with 18 points, six rebounds, and three steals and Luca Brooks added 13 points and five assists. Kace Kitchel added a season-high eight points.

Xavier Bailey and Zackry Martinez both tallied 17 points to lead the Lights.

The Rocky Men (12-14, 3-10 conf.) return home to host Carroll College and Montana Western to conclude the regular season.
