Johnson Ties For Top Finish; Zuleta Takes Second to Lead Battlin’ Bear Golf at the Warrior Invitational

LEWISTON, Idaho.- A pair of strong individual performances led Rocky Golf to third and fourth-place finishes at Lewiston Golf and Country Club on Tuesday.

Men's Day 2 Recap

Jake Johnson continued his fantastic first day with another strong round, shooting one-under-par 71 to finish seven-under-par 209. He tied for the individual victory with Bryden Brown from the host school LC-State. Jared Smith was the next Battlin' Bear finisher, shooting six-over-par 222 to tie for 14th overall. Adam Hyde-Lay (T-22nd; +9 222), Nolan Wilson (T-29th; +12 228), and William Dexheimer (T-33rd; +14 230) rounded out the Rocky scorers.

The Battlin' Bears finished third overall with a team score of 17-over-par 881. The University of British Columbia earned the team victory, finishing six-under-par 858.

Women's Day 2 Recap

Valentina Zuleta tied the field for the second day straight's second-lowest round, shooting a two-over-par 74 to finish five-over-par 149 for the tournament. Zuleta tied for second overall in the individual standings. Grace Metcalf earned a top-10 finish in Lewiston, finishing 11-over-par 155. Isabella Downing followed closely behind at 14th overall (five-over-par 158). Tyla Potgieter (T-26th; +28 172) and Kadence Fischer (32nd; +33 177) rounded out the Battlin' Bear scorers.

The Rocky women finished fourth overall with a team score of 58-over-par 634. They fell just a single stroke behind Oregon Tech for third place. The University of British Columbia completed the sweep with a 21-stroke victory.

The Battlin' Bears are preparing for post-season action as they look ahead to the Red River Athletic Conference Championships, which will begin April 29th in Victoria, Texas.
