PREVIEW: Rocky Track and Field Competes in the Montana Open on Friday and Saturday

BILLINGS, Mont. - Rocky Track and Field will travel to Missoula for the Montana Open, which will take place on Friday and Saturday, featuring the Frontier Conference Championship race in the steeplechase.

Battlin' Bear Recap

The Battlin' Bears had six different school record-breaking performances this past weekend. At the Fighting Saints Open in Helena, the Battlin' Bear 4x800-meter team, featuring Tyne Stokes, Taylen Stinson, Maya Pearcy, and Kallyn Wilkins, was the leading performance of the weekend, finishing with an A-Standard time of 9:24.59. They are the first group of Battlin' Bears to qualify in the event in program history and currently rank second in the NAIA this season.

The Rocky women's 4x100-meter relay team also set a new school record, surpassing a record set earlier this season after finishing in 50.23 seconds.

Kellan Wahl, a member of that record-setting relay team, also surpassed her school record in the 100-meter dash with a finishing time of 12.59 seconds.

Robby Gress secured the top 110-meter hurdle finish in program history, crossing the line in 15.99 seconds. Gress also recorded the second-best 400-meter hurdle finish in program history after taking second place with a time of 57.87.

Freshman Logan Hughes earned his first school record in the men's hammer throw, tossing a new best of 46.27 meters.

At the DSU Blue Hawk Games in Dickinson, Corbyn Svec set the new program record in his first collegiate attempt at the 3,000-meter steeplechase. His finish of 10:09.43 was the top time by a Battlin' Bear since Eddie Loughran's time of 10:15.59 in 2017.
