Svec and Timm Grab All-Conference Finishes at Montana Open

MISSOULA, Mont. - Corbyn Svec and Grace Timm earned All-Conference honors in the steeplechase on Saturday in Missoula. 

Track Highlights

Corbyn Svec broke the men's steeplechase school record for the second consecutive week, crossing the finish line in 10:00.18 to earn fourth overall. Svec was the third Frontier Conference finisher, earning him his second All-Conference honor in track and field and the third overall honor in his career. Connor Chase ran a personal best of 10:26.24 to earn ninth overall. 

Grace Timm earned her first All-Conference finish in a Battlin' Bear uniform, taking fifth in the women's steeplechase. She crossed the line at 12:24.25 and was the third Frontier Conference finisher. Rylie Schoenfeld followed right after Timm, taking sixth overall (Fourth in the Frontier) with a time of 12:24.35.  

The Battlin' Bear women's 4x400-meter relay team set a new school record with a second-place finish. Tyne Stokes, Maya Pearcy, Jenna Hillman, and Kallyn Wilkins' time of 4:07.22 was a three-second improvement from the same team that set a new program record earlier this season. 

Jackson Wilson earned a first-place finish in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:48.13. Wilson has the nine best 5K finishes in program history, with Saturday's finish ranking fourth. 

For the second consecutive week, Kellan Wahl surpassed her own school record in the women's 100-meter, crossing the line in 12.54 seconds to earn 5th place. Charlize Davis followed in 11th with a time of 12.85 seconds. 

Charlize Davis (11th place; 26.32s), Vaidyn Vanderploeg (12th place; 26.55s), and Jenna Hillman (13th place; 26.84s) all earned top 10 marks in program history in the women's 200-meter. 

Davis also took fifth in the women's 100-meter hurdles, narrowly missing her own school record after crossing the line in 15.03 seconds. 

Chad Lindsey finished 14th overall in the men's 100-meter after a personal best of 11.42, the 10th-best finish in school history. 

Zachary Zwiesler and Matthew Conrad turned in top-five finishes in the 1,500-meter, as Zwiesler finished third with a time of 4:08.75, and Conrad followed in fourth with a time of 4:10.35. 

Tyne Stokes and Jenna Hillman each came within a step of breaking the one-minute mark in the women's 400-meter race, as Stokes finished eighth (1:00.25) and Hillman finished 10th (1:00.72). 

Field Highlights

Jay Jetmore tossed a personal best 44.03 meters in the men's javelin, coming just three feet short of the program record to take 10th overall. Logan Wells also threw a personal best of 42.75 meters to take 12th. 

Brooke Wirkkala and Kendall Wahl both recorded top-10 marks in program history in the women's triple jump, with Wahl recording a best mark of 10.50 meters (third best in program history) and Wirkkala leaping 10.35 meters (ninth best in program history). Wirkkala also placed ninth in the women's long jump with a best mark of 5.29 meters. 

After earning the program record a week ago, Logan Hughes earned a final mark of 45.16 meters in the men's hammer throw to place seventh overall. His mark ranks sixth in Rocky's history. 

Braden Tomlin placed eighth overall in the men's pole vault, clearing 4.58 meters, his best mark of the outdoor season. He also finished 11th in the men's long jump, earning a final mark of 6.24 meters. 

Team Results

The Rocky men finished sixth overall with a team score of 41, while the Rocky women took seventh with a team score of 30. 

Up Next

The Battlin' Bears will have a quick turnaround this week, traveling to the Trudnowski Open starting Wednesday, April 24th, in Helena.
