Wilson Earns Qualifying Finish in the 10K as Rocky Track and Field Concludes Whitworth Peace Meet

SPOKANE, Wash. - Jackson Wilson became the second Battlin' Bear this season to punch their ticket to the NAIA Outdoor T/F Championship as Rocky Track and Field competed in Spokane on Friday. 
 
Highlights

Jackson Wilson earned his first qualifying mark of the season after a second-place finish in the men's 10K, crossing the line in 31:00.31. His finish shatters his previous personal best by over two minutes and the school record previously held by Noah Kiprono (2013) by over a minute. Corbyn Svec made a strong debut in his first collegiate 10k, crossing the line in 32:10.5 to take sixth overall. Svec's mark places him fourth all-time for the Rocky men. 

Grace Timm toed the line in the women's steeple chase and concluded with the best performance by a Battlin' Bear in over a decade. Her third-place finish as the top NAIA runner, with a time of 11:37.33, not only places her in the top 15 in the NAIA this season but also ranks third in Rocky women's program's history. Rylie Schoenfeld finished with a new personal best of 12:35.48, securing eighth overall. 

Justin Glass and Connor Chase became the first Battlin' Bear men to compete in the men's steeplechase since George Bedow during the 2021 season. Each came up with solid efforts on Friday afternoon, as the two finished back to back, with Glass finishing at 10:30.33 and Chase behind him at 10:30.64. The finishes rank as the third and fourth best times in program history. 

Seth Petsch ran a season-best 1:55.21 in the men's 800-meter to place ninth overall. Petsch was the second NAIA finisher and ranked in the top 30 this season in the NAIA so far. 

Four of the five Battlin' Bears who competed in the women's 800-meter finished with personal bests, including Maya Pearcy, Tyne Stokes, Kallyn Wilkins, and Lauren Rodacker. Pearcy was the leading finisher for the Battlin' Bears, crossing the finish line in 2:18.39 to place 14th overall, ranking in the top 20 in the NAIA this season. Stokes followed right on her heels in 15th with a time of 2:19.19, as the pair were the second and third NAIA finishers. 

Zachary Zwiesler, Joseph Orndorff, Owen Miller, and Eniah Boseman finished with personal bests in the men's 1,500-meter race. Zwiesler was the top Rocky finisher and the third NAIA finisher, placing 21st with a time of 4:02.14.  

Violet Carter finished with a personal best in the women's 1,500-meter.

The Battlin' Bears pole vaulters will travel to the Dr. Tom Johnson Open, hosted by the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota, on Saturday.
