Jackson Wilson Takes 31st in 5K Prelims at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships

MARION, Ind. – Jackson Wilson concluded his decorated collegiate career on Thursday evening, as the nine-time All-American finished 31st in the 5k prelims.

Wilson finished ninth in his heat and 31st overall in a packed field in Marion with a time of 15:18.62. He entered the race with a qualifying time of 14:36.55 (adj.), which he ran at the Montana Open.

Andrew Davis of British Columbia won the second heat with a time of 14:57.42. The top four finishers of each heat and the next four fastest times qualified for the finals.

Wilson, a senior from Box Elder, South Dakota, may go down as one of the most accomplished student-athletes in Battlin' Bears history. While limited throughout his final outdoor season, Wilson finished his career with nine All-American honors, seven Frontier Conference Individual Championships, and 33 Frontier Conference Male Runner of the Week between Cross Country and Track and Field. He holds the program records in the mile, 3k, 5k, 8k, and 10k. Wilson was the first Cross Country National Champion in program history and was named the USCCTFCA NAIA Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
