Rocky Track and Field Men and Women Finish Third at the Frontier Conference Championships

BUTTE, Mont. - The Battlin' Bears totaled six event champions and 24 All-Frontier Conference finishes among a number of personal bests and program records at the conference championships in Butte. 

Track Day 2 Highlights

Charlize Davis kicked off Monday's meet on the track with her first conference championship finish. The freshman from Billings finished the 100-meter hurdles in 15.38 seconds to secure a victory. 

Kellan Wahl successfully defended her crown in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.83 seconds. Wahl won the event a season ago and has placed in the top three in the event each of the past three seasons. Teammates Vaidyn Vanderploeg and Jenna Hillman also had podium finishes in the 100-meter, with Vanderploeg placing fourth with a time of 13.32 seconds and Hillman following in sixth after a finish of 13.61 seconds. 

Rocky's women's sprinters continued a strong championship meet as the Battlin' Bears finished 2-3-4 in the 200 meters. Jenna Hillman led the way in second with a time of 26.83, Kellan Wahl followed in third with a time of 27.00, and Vaidyn Vanderploeg rounded out the Rocky placers in fourth with a time of 27.35. 

Robby Gress and Carter McCauley earned podium finishes in the men's 110-meter hurdles. Gress earned an all-conference accolade after finishing third in 16.63 seconds, and McCauley followed in fifth with a time of 16.86 seconds. 

Grace Timm grabbed her third all-conference honor of the season in the 5,000-meters after placing third with a time of 19:37.99. Chloe Bryntesen rounded out the scorers in the women's 5k with a sixth-place finish after a 20:12.53 effort. 

Rocky's 4x400-meter relay team of Maya Pearcy, Jenna Hillman, Tyne Stokes, and Kallyn Wilkins finished third with a time of 4:17.53, ranking fifth in school history. 

Taylen Stinson and Kallyn Wilkins put together top-five performances in the 800-meter, with Stinson finishing in 2:26.08 for a fourth-place finish and Wilkins following in fifth with a time of 2:27.35. 

Drifter Skillicorn flexed a strong finish and earned fourth place in a tight field in the men's 200-meter race. Skillicorn crossed the finish line in 22.79 seconds to reach the podium in a race in which places one through nine were decided by less than a full second. 

Robby Gress tallied his fifth top 10 mark in program history this season in the 400-meter hurdles, as the freshman crossed the line in 1:00.97 to place fourth overall. 

Rocky's men went 4-5-6 in the men's 5,000-meters, with freshman Matthew Conrad leading the charge with a fourth-place finish in 16:16.85. Justin Glass followed in fifth with a time of 16:18.01, and Zachary Zwiesler finished sixth with a time of 16:22.37. 

Rylie Schoenfeld ran the 10th fastest time in program history in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing fifth overall with a time of 1:12.43. 

Tyne Stokes and Maya Pearcy each snagged a podium finish after the duo finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the women's 400-meter. Stokes crossed the line at 1:00.88, with Pearcy following at 1:01.18. 

Aiden Lantis finished fifth in the men's 400-meter with a time of 52.90 seconds. 

Field Day 2 Highlights

Freshman Kendall Wahl won her first career conference title in the women's triple jump, leaping 10.84 meters (35-06.75) on her first mark of the day. Brooke Wirkkala earned a podium place with a leap of 10.39 meters (34-01.25) to take fifth. 

Braden Tomlin finished a strong weekend by shattering his own school record in the men's triple jump, finishing second with a final mark of 13.66 meters (44-09.75). 

Brooke Wirkkala earned her second all-conference finish in the women's high jump in as many seasons after a third-place finish with a final mark of 1.50 meters. 

Team Results

The Rocky men and women both finished third in the team standings, with the men scoring 83.5 points and the women finishing with 152 team points. 

On the men's side, Braden Tomlin was the leading individual point scorer, totaling 30 points with top-six performances in the pole vault, high jump, long jump, triple jump, and 4x100-meter relay. 

For the Rocky women, Taylen Stinson and Kellan Wahl each contributed 24 points scored. Stinson earned top-six finishes in the 1,500-meter, 800-meter, and 4x800-meter relay, and Wahl finished top-six in the 100-meter, 200-meter, and 4x100-meter relay.
