Charlize Davis Wins Heptathlon to Highlight Efforts at Fighting Saints Open

HELENA, Mont.- In her first career attempt at the heptathlon, dual-sport standout Charlize Davis won the event and set the new program record at the Fighting Saints Open. 

In her multi's debut, sophomore Charlize Davis totaled 3,948 points to win the heptathlon in Helena. The point total is the best in program history, while Davis is also the first Battlin' Bear to compete in the heptathlon since 2018. 

Within the heptathlon, she won the 100-meter hurdles (15.23 seconds), the 200-meter (26.95 seconds), and the long jump (5.12 meters). She also took third place in both the high jump (1.47 meters) and the javelin (30.12 meters). 

Her point total ranks 12th in the NAIA this season and the best in the Frontier Conference. The top 16 declared marks at the qualification date advance to the NAIA Outdoor National Championships. 

Braden Tomlin earned an individual victory in the pole vault, leaping 4.60 meters (15' 1"), a season-best in outdoors. 

Abram King made his collegiate debut in the decathlon, totaling 5041 points and taking fourth place overall. He placed second in the shotput (11.47 meters) and the discus (33.62 meters) and set personal bests in the 400 meters (54.92 seconds), the 110-meter hurdles (19.96 seconds), the pole vault (3.90 meters), and the 1,500 meters (5:29.06).

The Battlin' Bears will travel a full squad to the Providence Open this Thursday in Great Falls.
