Pearcy Secures A-Standard Time; Davis and Wahl Break Program Records to Highlight Rocky’s Last Chance Weekend

BILLINGS, Mont.- Sophomore Maya Pearcy recorded the sixth-fastest 800-meter time in the NAIA this season, and Charlize Davis tallied a top-15 Heptathlon total in the NAIA this season to lead the Battlin' Bears on the final weekend of the regular season.

Coming off a dominant Frontier Conference Championship in the 800-meter, Maya Pearcy recorded a new personal best in Bozeman on Friday, crossing the line in 2:11.28. Her altitude-adjusted time of 2:10.56 earns her an A-Standard mark and currently ranks sixth-best in the NAIA this season. Pearcy has competed in the NAIA National Championships twice previously as a member of the DMR and 4x800-meter relay, but her finish on Friday secures her first individual qualification of her career. 

Tyne Stokes also competed in the 800-meter, placing 10th at 2:25.76. 

Brooke Wirkkala cleared 1.55 meters (5 feet, 1 inch) to win the women's high jump. 

Drifter Skillicorn and Ryan LaMere finished second and third, respectively, in the 100-meter. Skillicorn crossed the line in 11.06 seconds, with LaMere following in 11.08 seconds. LaMere also took second in the 200 meters with a time of 22.01 seconds, the fourth-fastest time in program history. Skillicorn took fourth in the long jump with a final mark of 6.48 meters (21 feet, 3.25 inches). 

Zachary Zwiesler placed third in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:18.35. 

Kallyn Wilkins took seventh in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:50.21. 

John Spinti ran a personal best to lead the Battlin' Bears in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:04.66 to take 12th overall.

Kellan Wahl wrapped up her decorated Battlin' Bear career by breaking two of her own program records. In the 100-meter preliminaries, Wahl crossed the line in 12.04 seconds. She advanced to the semifinals, where she finished 17th overall with a time of 12.09 seconds. In the 200-meter, Wahl crossed the line in 25.33 seconds to place 23rd overall. 

Charlize Davis set a new personal best and program record in the Heptathlon, placing 11th overall with 4,361 points. Davis recorded personal bests in the shot put (9.99m), 200 meters (26.29 seconds), and 800 meters (2:42.47). Her performance in California boosted her to the 15th-best point total in the NAIA this season, with the top 16 declared athletes advancing to the NAIA National Championships. 

Grace Timm got back on track in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, placing eighth with a time of 11:10.44, just a second behind her program record run earlier this season. 

Freshman Trystin Chapel leaped the second-best mark in program history in the long jump, finishing with a mark of 7.25 meters (23 feet, 9.5 inches) to take fifth overall.

Justin Glass finished with the second-best 10,000-meter time in program history, while Joseph Orndorff followed with a personal best in the 10,000 meters. Glass placed 14th overall with a time of 31:33.49, and Orndorff followed in 28th with a time of 33:13.86.
