ASHEVILLE, N.C.- Maya Pearcy ran the second-fastest 800-meter time of the preliminaries, Raynor Ranum broke his own program record, and John Spinti earned a top-15 finish as Rocky Track and Field competed in the NAIA National Championships on Thursday.

Maya Pearcy dominated her preliminary heat, punching her ticket to Friday's finals with a blazing time of 2:08.68, the second-fastest time of the day. For the second consecutive race, Pearcy set a new program record in the 800-meters. She now shifts her focus to Friday's 800-meter final at 2:05 p.m. (MT).

Freshman Raynor Ranum narrowly missed All-American honors, finishing ninth in the nation with a toss of 16.44 meters (53-11.25). The performance capped a strong debut season for Ranum, who now owns the top five marks in program history after breaking his own school record on Thursday.

After battling through a weather delay and a nearly month-long competitive hiatus, the sophomore John Spinti gritted out a 14th-place finish in the 10k. Spinti's resilient performance crossed the line as the fourth-fastest 10,000-meter time in program history.
