BILLINGS, Mont. – The No. 18 ranked Battlin' Bears defeated the San Diego Christian College Hawks 52-35 in their opening game of the the 2018 Phoenix Frontier Classic.

Markaela Francis led the Battlin' Bears with 13 points and seven rebounds. Alecia Chamberlin provided 12 points and five rebounds.

The Battlin' Bears (9-1, 2-0 FC) out-shot the Hawks (6-5, 0-3 GSAC) 41.6 percent to 27.3 percent. From beyond the arc, Rocky was good for 18.2 percent while San Diego Christian shot only 7.7%.

The Battlin' Bears out-rebounded the Hawks 34-30 and held a 8-6 advantage in steals.

San Diego Christian's Colleen Murphy scored nine points with nine rebounds.

Rocky will play Our Lady of the Lake tomorrow as part of of the 2018 Phoenix Frontier Classic. The game will take place at 8:00 p.m. at Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Chandler, Ariz.
