GAME NOTES: Rocky Women’s Basketball Takes on No. 16 University of Providence on Thursday

GREAT FALLS, Mont.- The Battlin' Bears have won the past three straight games on the road against the Argos as they head into Thursday evening's matchup.

Battlin' Bear Recap

The Battlin' Bears return to action after falling to Montana Western 86-65 last Saturday afternoon.

The Rocky offense has taken care of the ball well in conference play, averaging just 10.2 turnovers per game, the second-lowest mark in the Frontier. Brenna Linse (5th; 5.8) and Gracee Lekvold (4th; 6.4) each rank within the top 5 in conference play in total rebounds per game. Linse ranks second in conference play in offensive rebounds, averaging 2.8 per game. She also ranks third in the Frontier in field goal percentage in conference play, shooting 56.1% from the field. 

Ky Oliver and Gracee Lekvold have combined for only 10 minutes in the past five games where either one of them has been off the court, as the two guards lead the Frontier Conference in minutes played per game. 

Saturday's loss to Montana Western marked the 12th game this season the Battlin' Bears have grabbed 10 or more offensive rebounds in a single game. Rocky will look to establish their edge from deep in Thursday's game, after shooting a season-worst 4-19 from three in their previous loss to the Argos.

The Argos broke a four-game losing skid to the Battlin' Bears in their last matchup, as Providence won 60-51 in Billings. The Battlin' Bears have won each of their last three games on the road against Providence.

Providence is 4-1 in Frontier Conference play and winners of their last four straight. Their lone loss came to No. 5 ranked Carroll College to open up conference action. The Argos are limiting their opponents to just 56.2 points per game and only 22.2% three-point shooting in the first five games of conference play. Senior Ashlee Maldonado is averaging 20.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game over her past five games, while freshman Keanna Salave'a is averaging nearly a double-double with 13.2 points and 9.8 rebounds over that stretch.  

Thursday's game will be the second of two straight games at home for the Argos before they head to Helena to take on No. 6 ranked Carroll College on Saturday afternoon.
