GAME NOTES: Rocky Women’s Basketball Travels to Havre to Matchup with the Skylights

BILLINGS, Mont.- The Battlin' Bears had their seven-game winning streak against the Skylights snapped in their last matchup but still have not lost in Havre since the 2020-21 season.

Battlin' Bear Recap

The Battlin' Bears rattled off their first two conference wins a week ago, defeating #16 ranked University of Providence in Great Falls, before returning home to defeat Montana Tech by 40 points.

Junior guard Gracee Lekvold was named the Frontier Conference Player of the Week after she led Rocky to their first two conference victories. Lekvold averaged 18.5 points, 7.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game while shooting over 50% from three-point range. Lekvold is the fourth leading scorer in the Frontier since conference play began, averaging 16.4 points per game and adding 4.0 assists and 5.4 rebounds per game.

Sophomore Madeline Heggem drew her first two collegiate starts and blossomed, scoring 24 points on 8-12 shooting from the field and 6-9 shooting from three, while grabbing 18 rebounds over the past two games.

The Battlin' Bears hit 15 three-pointers in a blowout win over Montana Tech, the most in a single game since November 25th, 2017 against Walla Walla, where they hit 20 in a 96-27 win. Their 36 attempts from three were the most in a single game this season and their percentage of 41.7% from three was the seventh game in which Rocky has shot over 40% from three as a team this season. Saturday's win was the 10th game this season the Rocky women have shot over 45% from the field as a team.

The Rocky women fell in heartbreaking fashion to the Skylights in their first matchup of the season, snapping a seven-game Battlin' Bear winning streak in the series. The Battlin' Bears haven't lost in Havre since the 2020-2021 season and have won three straight games in Havre by double figures.

The Skylights are 4-3 in Frontier Conference play and are winners of their last two games. Ryley Kehr, who scored 27 points in the Skylight's first matchup with Rocky, has been leading the way in scoring for MSU-Northern. Kehr and teammate Shyan Krass both scored 19 points each in their most recent win over Montana Western, combining to shoot 17-25 from the field.
