BILLINGS, Mont. - Following a pair of shutout victories over Eastern Oregon and No. 4-ranked College of Idaho, Rocky Women's Soccer's Charlize Davis and Matea Vernon both earned Cascade Collegiate Conference Player of the Week honors, as the Battlin' Bears swept the weekly honors.

The Battlin' Bears were also recognized as the Cascade Collegiate Conference Under Armour Team of the Week, as their standout weekend vaulted Rocky into sole possession of first place in the conference standings.

Charlize Davis, a senior forward from Billings, Montana, scored twice in a three-minute span during the second half against No. 4-ranked College of Idaho to lead the Battlin' Bears to a 2-0 victory. Netting her seventh and eighth goals of the season, Davis now ranks second in the CCC in goals scored, leads the conference in points per game (1.82), and is tied for first in shots on goal (29).

The selection marks the second conference weekly honor of Davis' career and her first of the season.

Matea Vernon, a sophomore goalkeeper from Gaston, Oregon, put on a masterclass in goal, turning in a pair of shutout performances over the weekend. Vernon saved all 13 shots she faced across the two contests, stopping seven against No. 4 College of Idaho and six against Eastern Oregon. She is currently riding a four-match shutout streak, having not allowed a goal since Sept. 26, and leads the CCC with six shutouts this season. Vernon also ranks second in the conference with a 0.82 goals-against average, conceding just three total goals during conference play.

This is Vernon's second career Player of the Week selection and her first of the season.

Rocky Women's Soccer returns home to host the University of Providence on Thursday evening at Herb Klindt Field.
