BILLINGS, Mont. - Accolades continue to roll in for Rocky Women's Soccer following a standout weekend, as Charlize Davis and Matea Vernon were named NAIA PrestoSports National Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, announced Tuesday morning.
The national recognition comes on the heels of the pair sweeping the Cascade Collegiate Conference weekly awards on Monday. Both Davis and Vernon made waves across the NAIA with their dominant weekend performances, earning the first national weekly honors of their careers.
The pair becomes the first Battlin' Bears to earn NAIA Player of the Week honors since Kirsty Montignani in 2012, and marks the first duo in program history to sweep both national offensive and defensive awards in the same week. They are also the first Rocky Mountain College student-athletes to claim national player of the week accolades this season, and the first for the athletic program since Isabelle Heggem (Women's Basketball) in January.
Rocky Soccer returns to action at Herb Klindt Field this Thursday to take on the University of Providence at 5:00 pm (MT).Â
