Ruby Vander Haak joins Rocky's Women's Basketball program

Rocky Mountain College head women's basketball coach Wes Keller has announced Thursday that Ruby Vander Haak signed a Frontier Conference Letter of Intent to join the Battlin' Bears for the 2020-2021 season.

Vander Haak is a 5'7" combo guard from Lynden High School in Lynden, Wash., where she recently led the Lions to to the 2A state championship and was also named tournament MVP. Recognized as a First Team All-League player since her junior season, Vander Haak has also been a team captain for the past two years and was a member of 2017 Lynden High School team that also won a 2A state title.

"Ruby is a winner, plain and simple," said Coach Keller. "She comes from a program that sets high expectations and is consistently one of the best teams in the state of Washington. We believe she will be a solid two-way player for us and we look forward to watching her develop as a person and player during her time at Rocky."

Vander Haak is the daughter of Steve and Jewel Vander Haak and will pursue a degree in Elementary Education.

"I chose Rocky because I love the area of Billings, the competitive basketball program, and the fact that the education program allows you to have early, hands-on experience in the classroom."
